RE: Profile ratings

When you click on a user name, it brings up their profile. In the profile one of those areas is your profile rating, and mine says not yet rated. But some other users are rated.

RE: Profile ratings

I believe if someone else clicks the Reputation button under your id, you go positive or negitive. I used to be positive, but then I didn't post for a while and you lose it I think

RE: Profile ratings

I moved it to troubleshooting.

The rating is natural way of praising (or lowering) other members' reputation. I hope it is only used to higher people ratings. A green rating shows a good member, a red shows a "trouble-making" member. The members use the reputation as a way to say "thank you" to another member who came up with a new contest, get some really good news or made some nice contribution to the site. Bad reputations are usually added to spammers or trouble makers (hopefully we don't need to use that option of the sytem). We can easily detect when this system is used unappropriately.

RE: Profile ratings

Oh god, I noticed that i had a red rating. I hope i didn't offend anyone, or made any trouble. I apologize if I did. Positive feedback would be appreciated.

You are probably being rated down for posting many empty posts.

By empty I mean posts that do not contain any real information. I have seen you post many things like "yes, I agree" or "I was wondering the same thing".

This is probably being interpreted by users to be you padding your own post numbers.

So my constructive criticism to you is: Try to be informative in your posts.

Im sure those who criticise you will not come forth, so there it is from my viewpoint outside-looking-in.

A general rule of thumb for posting on forums, if it doesnt contribute, dont post it.

Or as my grandmother always said "Youll catch more flies with honey than vinegar."

Hope that helps you become a much-loved member around here. :-)
