Report: Murray backs out as Jackets GM
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Anaheim Ducks assistant general manager Bob Murray has withdrawn his name from consideration to become the Blue Jackets general manager.
According to the paper, Murray interviewed with the Jackets on Friday and notified the team Sunday that he no longer was interested in the job.
"The Blue Jackets were extremely interested in (Murray)," an NHL source told The Dispatch. "Bob spent Saturday discussing it with his family, and he's decided he's in a very good spot right now with Anaheim, that he wants to stay put."
Murray, 52, played 15 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks from 1975 to 1990 and worked as the team's general manager from 1997 to 1999.
Other finalists for the job include former New York Rangers and New York Islanders GM Neil Smith, Blue Jackets interim general manager Jim Clark and director of player development Don Boyd.

RE: Report: Murray backs out as Jackets GM
If someone offered me a job with the Blue Jackets, I'd back out too! I just can't see that club doing much for at least another 2-3 years.

RE: Report: Murray backs out as Jackets GM
This is great news for Anaheim. If I'm not mistaken, Murray was the guy who found guys like Penner, Kunitz, and McDonald.
