Ribeiro could have been a blackhawk.

according to this article from a french canadien website, it reports that last season, the Habs where about to trade Ribeiro, Theodore and Dagenais to the Bhawks in exchange for Khabibulin and Aucoin.

The reason why it was not officially made was because Theodore broke his ankle.

what are your thoughts?

RE: Ribeiro could have been a blackhawk.

I think that the injury of THeodore(what they say in the articles), but I think it was of Aucoin happened at the good time.
1) In exchange of Ribeiro, we, the habs, have no other center. If Koivu don't return this year, Ribeiro will be our #1 center.
2) We already have enough D's
3) In exchange of Theodore, we were receiving a goalie that had known a miserable year. Ok, maybe he will know a good year this season, but, do you see his salary, 6,5 millions!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
SO, by trading THeodore for Abeischer, we saved a lot of money!!! With this money, we have the chance to sign SAmsonov, which is a good acquisition and have a goalie(Abiescher) that, I think is better than Khabibulin.

The trade wasn't approved because of Adrian Aucoin injury and not Jose Theodore. At the time, I don't think it would habe been a trade at all. Swepting problems and hope for the best. However, a year later, we can definitely say that were a better team without the trades. We couldn't had been able to affort to sign Huet or Samsonov with these two guys in MTL.
