Canadiens defenseman Craig Rivet knows that his name is being tossed around the trade circles, reports Le Journal de Montreal.

Rivet, along with fellow defensemen Sheldon Souray, Andrei Markov and Janne Niinimaa, are to become unrestricted free agents this summer and it's been widely speculated that the Habs could move one or two of them.

"Of course, we know the trade deadline is approaching, but we shouldn't have to worry about it," Rivet, who is also battling pneumonia, told the newspaper.

"Only our game on the ice can influence our future."

Rivet's agent, Pat Morris, has had discussions with Canadiens GM Bob Gainey, but that does not rule out the possibility of a trade.

The Habs are looking to make a significant move prior to the trade deadline, however sources indicate that doesn't necessarily mean Montreal will be sellers.

Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Souray suggests the Habs could deal him, with the San Jose Sharks showing interest, however both Souray and management has expressed the desire to work on a new contract.
