Panthers Open Up 2006 Rookie Camp in Toronto
23 Players to Play Four Games at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto
The Florida Panthers announced today that 22 players will participate in a five-day Rookie Tournament at Ricoh Coliseum, home of the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies. The players will take part in four games beginning September 8 versus prospect teams from the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and York University, located in Toronto.
The games are as follows:
Sept. 8 – Panthers vs. Montreal, 4 p.m.
Sept. 9 – Panthers vs. York U., 4 p.m.
Sept. 11 – Panthers vs. Toronto, 4 p.m.
Sept. 12 – 3rd place vs. 4th place, TBA
1st place vs. 2nd place, TBA
“This is a great opportunity to see the future of our hockey club,” said Panthers General Manager and Head Coach Jacques Martin. “This tournament provides a great chance for us to see our young players and begin their process into NHL.”
Players attending the rookie camp for the Panthers include this year’s first round draft pick, 10th overall,
C Michael Frolik, recently signed Michigan State graduate
LW David Booth, Florida’s first choice and 20th overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft
LW Kenndal McArdle and the Cats second round pick, 32nd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft,
G Tyler Plante.
