Good signing. I figured NYR would go after Gomez or Drury. I think playing with Jagr or Shanahan will definitely help Gomez open up his offense, which was stifled by NJ's system. I think as long as the contract is less than Briere's $6.5M, its a good signing. The Rangers will be deadly in the playoffs.

Its not official just a rumor. And anyways Shannahan is a UFA this year aways ways right? There are also rumors that Gomez might sign out west.

I read somewhere Shanahan has already stated he wants to stay with the Rangers. I'd expect that they're just waiting a bit for the FA dust to settle and then determine whats a fair contract to offer.

I also read somewhere (cant remember where) but Shannahan would really like to go and play back into Detroit. But if Gomez signs and Shannahan re-signs in New york city I think the Ranger will be a VERY good team this year,
