FRISCO, Tex. -- Dallas Stars goaltender Mike Smith was named Monday as one of the “Three Stars of the Week” by the National Hockey League for the week ending November 25, 2007.

Smith posted a 3-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals-against average (GAA), a .963 save percentage and recorded one shutout as the Stars (12-7-4, 28 points) moved into first place in the Pacific Division. He made 22 saves and recorded his fourth career shutout as the Stars defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-0 on Nov. 19, stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks Nov. 21 and made a season-high 39 saves as Dallas defeated the New York Rangers 3-2 Nov. 25. Smith has posted a 6-3-0 record, 2.19 goals-against average, a .916 save percentage and one shutout in nine appearances this season.

Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere and Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov were named as the other two “Stars of the Week.” Briere led the league in scoring with eight points while Bryzgalov went 3-0-0 with a 1.62 GAA.

Smith was honored twice last season as one of the “Three Stars of the Week,” – February 12, 2007, and November 26, 2006.

The Stars take on the New York Islanders on Monday night at Nassau Coliseum (6:00 pm CT, My27, News/Talk 820 WBAP). Dallas has won five games in a row, including a 3-2 win at the NY Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
