Sabres re-sign Paul Gaustad

They avoid yet another arbitration case. 2 year deal worth $1.425 mil. He wanted a 2 year deal so he could get another shot at arbitration before becoming unrestricted.

wow. i'm just wondering, but why would anyone want a shot at arbitration before coming an unrestricted free agent? personally, it makes no sense to me. i'm glad they avoided arbitration but i wouldn't want a player to take a 2-year deal so that they can go to arbitration after the contract is up.

He probably wants to use it as an oppurtunity to drive up his salary so when he hits the ufa market he'll be able to look for even more provided his play hasn't sucked.
