RE: Scoring race
I think Thornton will win it with 137 points. However if Forsberg stays healthy enough to play 70 games he will win it.

RE: Scoring race
I'm a little unsure about Thornton, don't get me wrong he's a great player. If Jagr stays healthy he may take it with 140.

RE: Scoring race
I know its blasphemy, but Im gonna give it to Jagr. Now hear me out.
Last year Thornton got it most likely because he was really playing on a two-man line. It was Cheechoo-Thornton with Ekman playing the fiddle in the background.
With Bell on the line this year those points are going to be split three ways instead of two.
It may just barely edge out Cheechoo and Thornton for those titles, but one or the other will get it. I dont think both can take home the hardware this year like last year.
Id love to see Joe get it, though. And one must keep in mind, this year its gonna be an entire year with Joe with SJ, not just most of the season, so that may be enough for him to take it.
Regardless, its gonna be real damn close, just like it was last year.
If I have to make a decision, Im gonna say Jagr and Thornton tie it with 141, give or take a few points, with advantage: Jagr.

RE: Scoring race
I really think Kovalchuk has a great chance this year. I feel he will score 125 points and win a close race over Jagr.

RE: Scoring race
I think Kovalchuk is too streaky to win it, or at least he has been in past years. He can go games without a point and then score a bunch in a little time. I think a guy like Jagr who consistantly puts up points will win it over him.

RE: Scoring race
It's interesting that the top 13 players in points all come from the eastern conference. The west only has 6 of the top 30 point getters. This may even out by the end of the season but it is surprising to me, I tend to think of the west being more wide open with more scoring usually.

RE: Scoring race
Really? The west to me has always meant a more defensive game with stronger goaltending. The east is more run and gun.

RE: Scoring race
Well in the late 90s and early 2000s they had teams like, Detroit, Colorado, Edmonton, Dallas, Vancouver. All of them were pretty succesful with fast paced teams. New Jersey kind of dominated the east over the past 10 or 12 years wit ha defense first game. Teams like Buffalo, Ottawa and Philly were all pretty good with more of a defensive attitude.

RE: Scoring race
I find it interesting that M. Hossa is on top of the leading scoring list. He's having an incredible season so far. Now, Sid the kid he's having a great start as well. Only one point behind the leaders.
