RE: The Next Great Goalie?

Emery is only less than a year and a hlf older than Ward and just a little over a year older than Lehtonen.  Emery has had great success at every level he has been at and continues to improve every year.

Emery isn't younger than Ward. He has been good through junior and the ahl but not at the level Ward has been. Yes, his nhl stats are better but he's playing behind a much better defense as well.

Thats who I was going mention I remember seeing him at the world juniors and thought he did amazing. But never hear about him anymore since he went back to Europe
And like basically everyone else I would have to mention Justin Pogge as well.

The next great goalie is Adam Denis who is on the Buffalo Sabres farm team.

Who?
Also, Marek Schwarz is a great guy, I met him when he played for the giants. Hope he does well.

stonewall30 is such a homer. Saying Dennis will become a bonafide #1 in the nhl is even stretching it at this point.

Watching one of the AHL games, Pogge needs a few years down in the A to improve his game. My only knock on Rask was his total lack of rebound control during the Juniors, but I wish him sucess in Boston... not too much though. I really don't want him to burn us down the line.

RE: The Next Great Goalie?

Marc-Andre Fleury has the potential to be good, but it's just the team he has been playing behind that makes it look like he's not going to be. He's big and takes up a lot of the net even when he's down. He can move fast, especially side-to-side. The only problem he may have is his ability to handle the puck. Not everyone can be like Brodeur, but everyone has to have flaws.

Haha, nice. I had the pleasure of watching a lot of him and Gerald Coleman in juniors. Both of their stats were really inflated though, the Knights were like the Buffalo Sabres of the OHL, and then some. Dennis is doing well in Rochester I see... but I don't think he will be the NHL's next big thing by any means. Down the road there's potential to be a #1 I suppose, but not much more than that.

RE: The Next Great Goalie?

I think Wards good, but I don't think he will ever match last years success. I think he'll be good from here out, but no great. He caught fire at the right time. It's going to come down to Fleury and Lethonin. Those 2 will have to grow with their teams if their going to make it anywhere. I personally think Kari is better, but the 2 will find themselves on all star teams for years to come. When it's all said and done, I don't think Ward will be able to tuch Fluery or Lethonin.
