Tjarnqvist Signs w/ Oilers
The Oilers took Olympic gold medal-winning defenseman Daniel Tjarnqvist away from the Minnesota Wild. After losing defensemen Chris Pronger and Jaroslav Spacek, Oilers general manager Kevin Lowe signed the 29-year-old Tjarnqvist, an unrestricted free agent, to a one-year deal. He had 18 points (3-15) in 60 games with the Minnesota Wild last season and was second among their defensemen in ice time at 19:46 per game. Lowe said Tjarnqvist was highly recommended by Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson, who played with him in Minnesota.
