However, there's reports that since Burke wanted Vishnevski to take a cut in pay that the Ducks are actively trying to deal him instead of letting him walk away. Rumor has it that there could be a Chris Drury for Vishnevski swap....that would be a GREAT move for Anaheim.

That would be the stupidest deal for the sabres, crhis drury is the leader for the sabres they wouldnt trade him, i'm sure that rumor is false.

I really hope it isn't false, but in all honesty I couldn't see the Sabres trade Drury either. I guess it was more wishful thinking...but you never know, stranger things have happened.

Vishnevski is going to be ufa shortly if they can't deal him. His trade value in no way is high enough to bring in a guy like Drury. I wouldn't mind having the canes trade one of their goaltending prospects and pick for him perhaps. He'd be a good replacement for Aaron Ward and then they can dump Oleg Tverdovsky.

The Ducks have a lot of defensive prospects; Burke must feel one or more them are ready to make the jump to the NHL. Shane O'Brien, Maxim Kondratiev, and Aaron Rome are names that keep popping up.

Now the ducks have accepted the award. My take on it is that they didn't have enough time to get a trade finalized so they needed to sign him before he became ufa and garnered them nothing in return.

They still may trade him though. Perhaps there was some strong interest but there just wasn't enough time to complete a deal, so Burke signed him with the intention of finalizing the deal in the near future.
