Vokoun Traded To Florida

Just happened... Not much info out yet.

Quote:
The Nashville Predators have traded goaltender Tomas Vokoun to the Florida Panthers for a first-round pick and two second-round picks.

More to follow.

Wow. I guess Nashville really is shedding their players. My question is who are they going to have left when the season starts? It almost looks like they're preparing for a possible move or something.

RE: Vokoun Traded To Florida

The owner of the Preds just announced that he will not sell the team to Jim Balsille. One of the reasons being because Balsille wants to move the team. It is pretty obvious that he wants to movea any team he buys so I don't understand why the Predators ownership talked to him in the first place.
This is the second time in a very short period that it looked like Balsille was a sure thing to buy a team and both have fallen through.

Exactly, why even bother talking to the guy if EVERYONE knows he's just going to move the team to Canada? The current Preds owner is such a tease. Still, I think he's going to sell to someone.

What do you suppose this means for Belfour & Auld? Alot of Cats fans are saying they are both good as gone.

Coach & GM Martin is quoted as saying "We are confident that this acquisition sufficiently addresses our goaltending needs and proves that we are committed to bringing success to the Panthers organization.”

Well John... First off id like to say I think Florida has solved there goaltending issue! They finally got a top 10 again. For Belfour, I can see the cats not even talk to him about a contract. He is abit to old and if they would sign him, He would be a back-up. As for Auld I think the Panthers will try to trade him weither tomorrow in the draft or later on, I'm pretty sure Auld is a RFA and Auld had a pay roll of like 1.5m or something so I can see fla signing someone else with that money.

The local talk is Auld is gone & Belfour as a possible back up. Otherwise we have Craig Anderson. He played last season and was pretty impressive for a minor league guy. I think he would make a good backup.

Yes, Because Craig Anderson did play a bit in the nhl with Chicago I think. And i'm remembering right he did alright.
