What was Scott Nichol thinking?
Looks like Nichol will be getting a lot longer Christmas holiday than the rest of the league. After a punch that was very similar to the one Bertuzzi laid on Steve Moore I think the league is going to have to give Nichol a lenghty suspension. The result of this punch was not a severe injury to Spacek and Nichol got 27 miniutes in penalties for the incident. I think he has to get 10 games at least due to the similarity of the Bertuzzi punch.
I don't see a link for this punch up anywhere but if anyone finds it feel free to put the link up.

RE: What was Scott Nichol thinking?
This hit by Nichol was terrible and I agree that he should get a long suspension but I heard Melrose talking and it seems like it might only be a 3 to 5 game suspension. I would like to see at least ten games handed down but who knows if the Commissioner will step up and be a man. I thought about Bertuzzi as well but the biggest difference to me was Nichol actually took his glove off to deliver his cheap shot. Once agian this was a very disgusting act by Nichol and Buffalo fans wont forget it, just like Colorado fans havent forgott or fargave Bertuzzi.

That was a terrible hit , a nasty cheap shot. But i will guarente that he will not get anything compared to Bertuzzi.

i didnt see the cheap shot... but considering that wasnt severly injured, Nichol took his glove off before the punch, and the fact he has had a fairly good record, i reckon 8-12 games would be sufficient. i doubt he will get no more than a dozen games off and a fine. but the fine aint going to do much really is it..? itll be 2% of his salary at the most!

RE: What was Scott Nichol thinking?
Well 9 games is what he got. Seems about right to me. The players can only get $1000 fines. However he will lose his salary that he would have made in those 9 games which is a little more than 10% of his salary for the year.

RE: What was Scott Nichol thinking?
Losing $60 000 of $575 000 is quite a bit of money.

RE: What was Scott Nichol thinking?
yeah true... but he is still making 515000 after loosing that money. i still think he should have been fined on top of that! make it a bit more severe for players who attempt to injure other players, and put a bit more responsability on the players to be more carefull.
