Which draftee do you think will be in the NHL next year?
I think whoever takes Phil Kessel will have him in the lineup before the season ends. I think he could go back and forth between the NHL and AHL before landing a spot with the big club. He is talented offensively and only needs some help on his defense. I don't think anyone else will be ready for NHL play this year. What do you guys think?

I think Kessel could use another year of development in either the AHL or in NCAA...he's not ready to play in the NHL, defensively atleast...
Erik Johnson is probably the closest.
As for last years draft, I'd say Brule and Kopitar will play most of the year in the NHL.

I'd like to see Scott Mellanby back for ATL, though I think even if he does come back, this may be his last year.

EJ, really? I heard that he is still too raw for the NHL. My guess is he'll be playing in the NHL 2 years from now. I think its really hard to jump straight into the league for a defensemen because you have to really be strong against forwards and there is not a lot of room to make mistakes. I can't remember the last time a defenseman jumped straight into the NHL after he was drafted. Phaneuf had an extra year to develop (although it wasn't by choice) and when he came in he was able to be a force.

It will be Kessel or Johnson. It depends if the team want a defenceman or an offenceman!

i think the same, thoes guys look close to nhl ready so i wouldint be suprised to see them playing in the nhl next season

Phil Kessel have a slim chance. Jordan Staal won't be coming in the NHL, Nicklas Backstrom is in europe for thre next couple of years, No Jonathan Toews and maybe Erik Johnson, but I really doubt it.
