All of these non malkin predictions were posted before Malkin had played game.

Ya but it was already known how good he was as he'd been playing in an elite mens league. Not like he came straight from junior or something. As good as he's playing, it's no surprise.

I don't think anyone thought that after missing half of training camp and only playing 5 games in the month of October that he could win rookie of the month. He has had a better start to his career than anyone else ever has. I thought he would be good but what he has done in a short amount of time is amazing. Most people see this as a surprise.

I'm not talking about winning rookie of the month though, I'm talking about the calder trophy, rookie of the year. It's been a well known fact for some time now that if Malkin could stay healthy and play the majority of the year then he'd be a pretty good bet to win the calder.

I know he was the favorite before the season began but there have been a lot of guys who are favorites before the year begins and don't perform. I was saying it's not a surprise that he is good but it is a surprise that he's as good as he is. I won't be surprised if he wins rookie of the year but if he sets a record for most points by a rookie it will be surprising.

Do you think he could outdo Crosby's performance last year? I really haven't given it much thought yet as I haven't been following him all that closely and it's still fairly early. If you've seen him play this year (which I haven't) could you give some insight into his all-around performance?

I could see him scoring more goals than Crosby, but not Points wise.
There was no doubt Malklin would win the Calder before the season started or now, he is simply going to be the best rookie this year

I would be shocked if anyone other then Malkin win the Calder. He could be a 50 goal scorer.

Latendresse is just coming into the zone now, after Patrick Roy said (and not the exact quote) "The only reason he's still in a Habs' uniform is because of his francophone backround."

To be honest, I'm not even sure of many other rookies. Mght as well give Malkin the award now.
