The future is now for the Minnesota Wild's top prospect, Benoit Pouliot.

The fourth overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft was recalled by the Wild on Tuesday to supplement a lineup decimated by injuries. The Wild placed left wing Derek Boogaard on injured reserve to make room for Pouliot. Boogaard injured his ankle in a game against Phoenix on November 14.

Should he crack the lineup, the French-speaking, Alfred, Ontario-native will make his debut against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-3, 188-pounder has come on lately for the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros in his first season of professional hockey. He ranks second among League rookies with 11 goals, and his 15 points ranks tied for the Houston lead. In his last six games, he's totaled six goals and three assists.

Pouliot is expected to arrive in Montreal on Tuesday night. He will wear jersey number 67 for the Wild.
