It appears Robert Lang's days in Detroit are over.
Acording to the Detroit Free Press, Lang will not be offered a contract for next season.
"I've contacted (Lang's agent) Petr Svoboda and told him we will not be offering a contract to Robert Lang," Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Free Press Wednesday.
Lang joined the Red Wings at the trade deadline in 2004 and has scored 114 points in the last two seasons. However, he only managed eight points in 18 playoff games as his ice-time continued to dwindle.
The newspaper also reports there was tension between Lang and head coach Mike Babcock.
I'm happy with this move. They can use that salary money to sign a big winger (Smyth or Bertuzzi) and let the young guys (Filppula and Hudler) get more top 6 ice time. Holland did something that I really like.
