red wings and leafs fan?
I've been a wings fan since I was 10 years old and saw my first broadcast in the netherlands here,my other favorite team are the toronto mapple leafs.ofcourse my heart is with the wings, but still....
on another forum I heared something about the wings-leafs rivalry.since I never gotten any of that from over here,I really wonder if it's an issue.
almost every wings and leafs fan told me that it's just wrong to befan of both. so I want to ask you all, do you think I should choose,or is it really no issue?
could someone also tell me how this rivalry started?
I guess it has something to do with the original six,but I'm not sure about that.

RE: red wings and leafs fan?
Since they are in different conferences, I don't think itis that big of a deal. It doesn't have nearly the intensity that it did back in the late 80s and early 90s when they played each other in the playoffs a couple of times. I think the fact that the 2 baseball teams (Detroit Tigers/Toronto Blue Jays) played in the playoffs in the early 90s had some effect as well. All the teams back in the original 6 have had rivalries that can spark up pretty quickly. I do not think it is a neccessity to choose one or the other becuase they are in different conferences and the chance that they will play each other in a Cup Final is very slim.
You can like whatever team you want, I'm a Flyers fan but don't really mind the Rangers. Most Flyers fans I know that are from Philadelphia hate the Rangers but since I am so far away from the 2 cities I don't get the influence from other fans and media.
