RE: who will make first trade
It continues to blow my mind that someone would actually want to trade Lecavalier...or St. Louis and Richards for that matter.

I'd put St.Louis on the block. He had 1 good year and then signed a big contract, then hasn't been to productive since.

RE: who will make first trade
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets traded forward Eric Boguniecki to the New York Islanders on Wednesday for defenseman Ryan Caldwell.
Caldwell was assigned to Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.
The 31-year-old Boguniecki has played in 167 NHL games with Florida, St. Louis and Pittsburgh, totaling 34 goals and 42 assists. The Blue Jackets signed Boguniecki as a free agent Aug. 22. In eight games with Syracuse this season, he was scoreless with eight penalty minutes.
Caldwell, 25, has four goals and 32 assists in 134 games the last two seasons with Bridgeport of the AHL. Caldwell was scoreless in two games with the Islanders last season.
There's the first trade. Seems like a wash to me.

Better yet, it should have been "First Trade that actually affects the teams involved" lol

RE: who will make first trade
I can't see anyone trading for St. Louis with his salary. He had one good year, got a huge salary and then puts up his worst numbers in the last 4 years. Richards is still pretty young and might prove to live up to his contract but right now he is making more than he is worth. As far as Lecavalier goes he makes a lot of money for an offensive forward who has never averaged a point per game in a season. I guess he was really good in that playoff run but other than that people seem to have been pretty dissapointed in him. I think at the moment all of these guys make a lot more than they should be.
The first trade will most likely be in the goalie department. There are a lot of teams that could use help in nets and a lot of teams who have two possible #1 guys. I don't think it will be too much longer before we see something that is worth talking about.

RE: who will make first trade
Hmmm...interesting assessment. Admittedly I haven't been able to follow the careers of either of those three players due to my geographic location. However, I vividly remember Lecavalier being drafted #1 overall way back when. I think that was one of the first drafts that I really remember.

RE: who will make first trade
there are quite a few guys out there that are making alot more than they are worth... but you do have a point though... those three on tampas roster are going to be difficult to move because of the salaries they dont deserve... infact that arent even earning it! im sorry to all Bolt fans out there but the truth is the truth.
i still believe that Vinny will be on the out this season. i have a bit of a feeling he will be off the tampa roster.
